Field Study (2021): Youth in the Palestinian Society in Israel - Perceptions, Attitudes, and Needs in a Complex Reality
17/04/2023 - 10:14

In 2021, Baladna conducted a field study to investigate the perceptions, attitudes and needs of Arab Palestinian youth in Israel with a focus on the four themes: 'Civic engagement and volunteering', 'Identity and Social and Political Attitudes', 'Education', and 'Work'. The research used combined research tools, including qualitative (geographically diverse focus groups) and quantitative (survey) methods. Youth from two age groups: adolescents (aged 14-18) and young adults (aged 19-24) were recruited. In total 220 young men and women completed the phone survey and 150 young people participated in 11 focus groups.

With the study we want to contribute to the formation of a professional reference that explores the reality of youth in the Palestinian society in Israel. Next to informing our own work we publish and distribute the research for the usage of the various organizations, institutions, and individuals working to address the needs of youth. But most importantly the study provides a stage to youth expressing their needs, attitudes, and perceptions according to their own agendas, references, and definitions.
